Most tented camps are of the 'fixed' variety - more like a safari lodge, but constructed of canvas, and can be quite luxurious in nature. Mobile tented camps, on the other hand, tend to be very basic due to their need to be taken down and moved to anothe site fairly rapidly.

Kwihala represents a third type of tented camp, combining the best of both worlds. It is designed to be moveable, but not on a regular basis, and hence contains many items of a luxury nature that are usually missing in a mobile camp - proper beds, ancillary furniture, rugs, curtains and the like, not to mention fully equipped bathrooms complete with flush toilet. There is even electricity on tap!

In fact Kwihala is designed to be relocated to a site that is in maximum proximity to the game, but only on a periodic basis, swopping between two magnificently located sites within the Ruaha National Park. This policy allows the two sites to regenerate when not in use, lowering the camp's impact on its enviroment. The camp is not actually moved whilst guests are staying there, and hence it is perhaps best regarded as having two separate identities at different times of the year.
